Opened up the Country House Hideout encampments at Wyresdale Park this weekend, in the Forest of Bowland just south of the Lake District. I described this in the brochure as the original Swallows and Amazons location in the brochure but that was off the back of some feats of imagination when I saw it in the rain in November and January. However reality exceeds the picture in my mind's eye.
Where else in England can you row a boat up to your tent? Or have your own private jetty?
The tents are real hideouts buried in the woods each with a view over the estate's private lake and Nicky Nook, as nice a fell as anything in the Lake District.
And the children got into the discovery theme as their parents allowed them to roam the deserted shores of Wyresdale lake.
Wyresdale is an undiscovered gem and truly an idyll.
looks great. beautiful location.
when I was glamping in the Mara a few years ago the family and I had our own driver, waiter and valet. Do these camps come with similar accoutrements?
