Had two recent tasters of the media, one after the other.
First for
Feather Down I went down to our farm at
Hollings Hill in the Malverns to supervise a TV shoot. Channel 4's
Country House Rescue were filming at a nearby pile and came across Feather Down as a potential business opportunity for the owners. They shot a morning's footage with me and
Ruth Watson in and around the Feather Down tents for an episode in the next series that airs in the New Year.
Then the following week the family and I were miked up for our holiday to Naples.
Travellers Tree on Radio 4 wanted to follow a house exchange; they are media friendly as part of the new thrift movement. That'll be airing in the weeks to come.
I was struck on both by the role of spontaneity to dramatise the shows. So for example, Ruth deliberately did not want to see the Feather Down tent interiors in advance of our filming in them in order to capture her first impressions. Similarly for Radio 4 they were insistent that we did not do a Big Brother style resume at the end of the day; rather the recording equipment went with us on our travels and the mic was whipped out when we had something to say.
Interesting to see how both turn out. I'll keep you informed.
